Abstract:
Impacts of spatial resolution on the predictive capability of flood simulation
models have shown the necessity to assemble geographic models up to the level
where physical behaviour can be expressed.
Indeed, simulation systems in large areas lead to an increasing amount of
simulation datasets or decreasing resolution causes negative effects.
Besides, the Cellular Automata model have been applied successfully to many
natural phenomena.
This paper proposes an analysis of environmental information in relation with
extended simulation capabilities.
This approach uses a cellular automata model integrated with Geographic
Information System (GIS) taking advantages of parallel computing resources
operated using the Message Passing Interface (MPI) framework.
